U.S. Supreme Court Justices Weighs Challenge To Obamacare

The U.S. Supreme Court appeared divided on President Barack Obama’s healthcare law, targeting tax subsidies to help people afford insurance.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, one on the nine-member court who casts deciding votes on closed cases, raised concerns on the impact Obamacare will have on states if the government loses the case. “Kennedy’s concerns focused on the possibility that if the law allows subsidies only for states that set up their own insurance exchanges, it would raise a new, more serious question about whether the law is unconstitutionally coercive by essentially punishing states that fail to establish exchanges.
